Role: Senior PostgreSQL Developer

Salary: £45k - £60k

Location: Birmingham - office based

CX Squared are the exclusive talent partner to a brand new fin-tech product engineering team, who are setting up a new office in the heart of Birmingham.

This fintech company are going to be going from 1 - 16 in the next 6 months and we are starting by hiring a team of DevOps, Java Devs, Senior QAs, PostgreSQL and Scrum Master and Project Managers.

About the Role

• Expert Level SQL, PL/PGSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
• Ability to efficiently write database code without compromising data quality, privacy or security.
• Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and/or workarounds.
• Partners with PostgreSQL Administrators to optimize implementation of system design in order to optimize performance and effectiveness while realizing the optimum technical issues.
• Evaluates application database queries performance and optimize the code and database configuration as appropriate.
• Partners with PostgreSQL administrator for the implementation of secured PostgreSQL database platform in compliance with STIG.
• Provide technical leadership to other DBAs.
• Design process for database change management issues related to environment migration. * Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills Needed

• 6+ years of professional experience as a Postgres code development
• In depth knowledge of the PostgreSQL architecture and application data lifecycle management.
• Experience in working closely with the application teams to resolve any performance related issues.
• Measure database performance and troubleshoot complex database issues, I/O bottlenecks and SQL Tuning.
• Proven experience in working in a mission critical environment in a multi-terabyte database platform.
• Experience with automation using Python, Ansible, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of IT industry database technologies and processes and business applications integrated with database technologies.
• Ability to develop efficient data models. * Ability to write optimized SQL queries and PL/PGSQL code.
• Experience in triggers and constraints.
• Strong experience in SQL and Database performance tuning.
• Experience in developing and managing table and index partitioning.
• Strong experience in writing complex JOINS and Sub Queries
• Extensive experience in using extensions and all available functions.
• Knowledge in Agile Scrum Framework.

Preferred:

• Postgres Certification.
