Infrastructure Engineer - networking

Location: Halesowen

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Office based working - some travel to client sites.

We are partnered with a growing managed services and consultancy IT firm who are looking to bring a new infrastructure engineer with Azure experience into their small team of IT Engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Planning and implementing both wired and wireless networks
• Deploying Azure services, including Azure Virtual Desktop
• Designing and setting up Microsoft 365 services
• Installing and configuring Palo Alto firewall solutions in on-premise and Azure environments
• Supporting and managing Hyper-V and VMware workloads
• Setting up backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Executing network configuration modifications
• Documenting infrastructure installations
• Offering expert technical advice and recommendations
• Collaborating directly with customer IT departments to execute and finalize projects
• Providing third-line support to our first and second-line teams when needed
• Conducting on-site visits for meetings and installations

Essential Skills:

• Minimum 7 years of experience in the industry, with at least 3 years in a senior role
• Strong understanding of network concepts, particularly VLANs, L2 and L3 understanding, and routing
• Proficiency in networking protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and DHCP
• Previous experience with Palo Alto Networks or other firewall vendors
• Familiarity with Windows Server Operating System
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure configurations
• Solid practical understanding of security and potential attack vectors
• Experience with virtualization technologies like Hyper-V and VMware in both clustered (SAN) and standalone environments
• Possession of a valid UK Driving License

Desirable Skills:

• Certitfications in CCNA / CCNP / CompTIA Network+, Azure and Firewalls.
• Microsoft SQL Server exposure.
• Worked with ITIL standards in a previous role.
• Managed Service Provider industry software e.g. Datto / ConnectWise
• Experiencing working within a Managed Service environment
