Senior Software Engineer - Protocol
Role: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Birmingham - Hybrid working 2/3 days a week
Salary : £60,000 - £80,000

CX Squared are partnered with a leading hardware and software systems company that are continuing to lead the way in the IOT and Property space.
As a technology system integrator, the business is keen to add a Senior Software Engineer who can work with clients to help integrate their technology with the infrastructure of those clients.
This is a software systems and hardware blended role, which shall have massive variations in the different projects you will work on. Prior experience of specific protocols including BACnet and RS-485 will be preferred in this role, but similar protocols shall also be considered.
Responsibilities include:
- developing fully functioning software systems as part of a project
- modifying existing software to resolve defects, adopt new hardware, improve performance, or add new functionality
- interacting with the client, other trades, and other Vanti teams as necessary, advising on the best approach for solving problems
- integrating with other hardware and software systems by creating device drivers for the target platform
- thoroughly testing a system using a combination of automated tools and manual end-to-end testing methodologies, typically on-site
- deploying software to devices both locally and remotely, either manually or automatically using tools such as Ansible
Essential Skills Include:
- Experience of building end to end software systems
- Experience of working with Device control Modules
- Worked with APIs and Protocols
- Experience of schematics and ability to translate technical documentations
- Experience of using PLC and GO would be highly desirable.
Due to the nature of this role, transferable skills are considered for this role, but demonstrable experience shall be needed on the software systems and hardware systems.
